Established in 1994 by Valeree Clegg and her mother, Betty, The Chestnut Tree began as an antique store with a tea room in the back of the shop. Over the years, The Chestnut Tree evolved into a full service restaurant, providing breakfast and lunch to the residents of Denton.
The Chestnut Tree was purchased by Suzanne Johnson in 2016. Prior to taking over the business, Suzanne worked at The Chestnut Tree for seven years, serving as the general manager and as the head chef. Suzanne’s husband, Daniel, also worked as a chef for 15 years, stepping in full time at The Chestnut Tree 6 years ago. Suzanne is proud to continue the legacy that Valeree and Betty began — she is passionate about maintaining the history and traditions of The Chestnut Tree, while offering new and exciting events and menu options. The heart of The Chestnut Tree is bringing joy to the people of Denton through delicious food, outstanding customer service, and a warm environment. From the first day the doors opened to today, The Chestnut Tree is proud to serve the wonderful people of Denton — here’s to many more years of delicious meals!
