Description

Barley & Board is a locally created gastropub, influenced by seasonal and fresh, high-quality ingredients in harmony with hand-crafted brews, located in the heart of Downtown, Denton, TX.

When searching for the perfect location to unveil the culinary talents and aesthetic artistry that is Barley & Board, embracing Denton’s rich history was a key factor in selecting a location. The building in which Barley & Board resides was once the Lacy Hotel, the first hotel built in Denton County in 1858 by Charles Christian Lacy. Lacy, a Public Land Surveyor, named the original streets of Denton, including Oak, Hickory, Locust, and Elm. The original brick interior walls were carefully excavated and brought back to life helping tell the story of Denton's past.  To showcase our personal design inspirations, we turned to local artisans to bring the richness of our diverse community together.

The restaurant is the culmination of creativity, hard work, and tenacity from a team whose driving force is centered on community, craft, and collaboration.  The menu showcases a New-American style cuisine, offering an array of small and large plates. Featuring a full bar that includes 36 beers on tap, which highlight Texas breweries, this fine gastropub offers in-house brews as well as a nice selection of wines and hand-crafted cocktails.

We invite you to join us for Lunch, Dinner, Brunch or Happy Hour (special musical guests on Thursdays from 4:35 PM-6:35 PM).

    Growing Greens In Denton Tx

How to grow lettuce, arugula, Swiss chard, spinach, kale, collards, and mustard greens in Texas. Greens are really easy to grow and in Texas we have two growing seasons for greens. In the video I forgot to say that kale, collard greens and mustard greens are more cold hardy than lettuce, Swiss chard and spinach and so they don't need to be covered or protected when the temperature reaches 22 degrees or below or a light snow is expected. If heavy ice is expected then you might just cover them to keep the leaves from potentially being discolored by the ice. In the video you will notice that I planted the very cold-hardy plants outside of the cold frame.
